The UK Intellectual Property Office can offer a variety of patent searches including state of the art, patentability, validity, freedom to operate (infringement) and searches to assess innovation for grant-awarding bodies. Tailored patent services can also be undertaken.  

We also operate a Trade Mark Search and Advisory Service.

Typical costs:

All patent search requests are initially assessed and a free estimate issued within three working days:

• Costs for patentability searches typically start from GBP 750.
• Costs for validity searches typically start from GBP 1 500.
• Costs for freedom to operate searches typically start from GBP 1 500.
  
  
• Trade Mark Searches cost GBP 80 per mark in up to three classes, and GBP 10 per extra class.

All prices are subject to UK VAT if applicable.

We utilise our 200 plus highly qualified and expertly trained Patent and Trade Mark examiners with extensive experience to undertake our searching and have gained ISO 9001:2000 certification in recognition of our quality standards for patent searches.  Our search reports are normally issued within ten working days of our receiving your confirmation to conduct the search.
