PATENTSCOPE, WIPO's gateway to access the world of technology

A core function of the patent system is the publication and dissemination of the technical information contained in patent documents, so as to make technology developments available to all. In this respect, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) provides, through PATENTSCOPE search service, free access to the technology contained in over 1.4 million published international patent applications. The presentation will provide an update on WIPO patent information products and services, with a particular focus to PATENTSCOPE search service, the world authoritative source of PCT international patent applications.

IP-BASE project

The EU-funded IP-BASE project started in November 2007. This ambitious three year project brings together two important Europe-wide initiatives under one umbrella action: the IPR-Helpdesk, which provides the helpline and training mechanisms for current and potential contractors in EC-funded RTD projects, and the second is NPO Network, including 19 national patent offices, which provides information and services targeting European SMEs.
