Micro-seminar 1
Oriental perspectives: Getting to grips with patents in East Asia Irene Schellner & Christine Kämmer, EPO In addition to Japan, which has been a force to be reckoned with for many years, recent patent statistics have illustrated a tremendous growth in patent filings in other East Asian countries, most notably in China and Korea. These are important developments affecting the whole of the patent community. This micro-seminar gives you an overview of the patent systems in Japan, China and Korea, introduces the most important steps in the patent granting procedures and explores the special features of patent documentation. Some of the recent revisions of patent laws and their impact on patent documentation will also be discussed. Furthermore, you will get practical tips on how to read and interpret the information found on the first pages of Japanese, Chinese and Korean documents. |
