TRAINING A
Successfully marketing your PATLIB centre

This training has been organised for new PATLIB centres who wish to benefit from marketing support to effectively promote their services in their area, and for existing PATLIB centres who wish to brush up on their existing skills. TRAINING B
esp@cenet and Register Plus for beginners

The aim of this seminar is to familiarise the participants with the basic features and functionalities of the free, internet-based services esp@cenet and Register Plus including WebRegMT. It is targeted at newcomers in the patent world or users with only basic knowledge of the services i.e. new staff at PATLIB centres.
Objectives:
At the end of the training the participants should
- know the basic functionalities and limitations of esp@cenet, Register Plus and WebRegMT
- know the input and output possibilities of esp@cenet, Register Plus and WebRegMT
- understand the linkage between esp@cenet, Register Plus and WebRegMT and other services of the EPO
- know how to carry out simple searches in esp@cenet, Register Plus
- know how to set-up and configure an alerting service with WebRegMT
- know where to find further help and support for these services
Outline:
The course will start with a presentation with some background information and an introduction of the basic functions and input as well as output screens. The presentation will also cover helpful features such as classifications and patent families. The subject matter will be illustrated by live demonstrations with esp@cenet. Basic search examples will be demonstrated where the previously acquired knowledge is applied. The esp@cenet block will be rounded off with a demonstration of additional features of esp@cenet such as translation tools, non-patent literature and saving/printing of documents. Limitations in esp@cenet as well as links to other services will be explained.
The European patent register (Register Plus) will be introduced with a presentation on the basic features and functionalities. Live demonstrations and simple searches will illustrate the functionalities. Linkage to other EPO services will be demonstrated. This part of the course will be concluded with a short presentation and demonstration of the EPO's legal status alerting service WebRegMT.
Help and support opportunities for the different services will be highlighted at the end of each block
A 20 minute break is foreseen at a suitable time.
