Landmark conference on climate change and patenting
The drastic changes in world climate can no longer be ignored and the need to find intelligent solutions to mitigate the effects is obvious. That is why around 300 international experts gathered in Ljubljana on 6/7 May at the European Patent Forum 2008 to discuss:
- How the fields of patenting and intellectual property can support innovations that benefit the environment and counteract climate change

Honouring inventors
This landmark event - the first international conference on climate technology and patenting strategies - took place together with the European Inventor of the Year awards 2008. These awards are presented annually by the EPO and the European Commission to inventors whose work has made a significant contribution towards innovation in Europe.
Part of Slovenia's EU Council Presidency
Organised by the European Patent Office, in co-operation with the European Commission, the Slovenian Intellectual Property Office and the Government of Slovenia, which holds the EU Council presidency in the first half of 2008, the events took place in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana on 6/7 May 2008.
