Over the past ten years, the number of patent applications in Taiwan has more than doubled, and while in the past the majority of patent applications were filed by foreign companies, the number of domestic patent applications in Taiwan grew more than fivefold between 1997 and 2006.
This session introduces the most important aspects of the patent system in Taiwan, looks at the major revisions in the patent laws and gives an overview of the patent granting procedure. It will also be your stepping stone to Taiwanese patent documentation, helping you understand document types, number formats and Taiwanese Minguo years. You will get practical tips on how to "read" a Taiwanese first page and how to extract the maximum amount of information from an original Taiwanese patent document.
