The European Patent Office in Munich is seeking an Administrative Employee (m/f) *

in Dept. 3.0.40 (Automation Support)
(until 30.06.2011)

Deadline for applications: 19.5.2008

Department 3.0.40 is responsible within DG 3 for automation support. This includes implementation and maintenance of a variety of applications software, planning and provision of user PCs, and support for the EPO boards of appeal in producing documents.

Main duties

  • user support for all automation systems concerning DG3 with indepth knowledge of their usage within the appeals processing
  • management of and user support for workstations and related equipment
  • analysis and specification of requirements for all automation systems concerning DG3
  • preparation and execution of standardised test runs including system acceptance for all systems concerning DG3
  • electronic forms system: Co-operation on processing, maintenance and administration of all appeal related forms
  • application development for Lotus Notes, the intranet and working knowledge of object-oriented software development with the programming language Java and of DB2 databases
  • producing technical documentation and conducting training for all DG3's own automation systems.

The ideal candidate will have

Minimum qualifications

Completed secondary education or - in exceptional cases - equivalent professional experience. Working knowledge of the EPO's official languages**.

Further technical qualifications

  • several years' practical, verifiable experience in implementing IT applications
  • practical knowledge of object-oriented software development tools and databases
