Applications Manager/French Terminologist (INT/EXT/4616)

The European Patent Office in Munich is seeking an Administrator (Applications Manager/French Terminologist) *

in Principal Directorate 4.6 (Language Service)

Deadline for applications: 21.8.2008

The Language Service wishes to appoint an applications manager/terminologist to handle its software requirements and French terminology.

Main duties:

  • Liaising with PD Information Management on questions relating to the acquisition, development and maintenance of the Language Service's software support systems and, in particular, its interpreting and translation workflow systems and its suite of assisted translation tools
  • Providing first-call support to Language Service staff in automation matters in co-operation with the Section WUCs
  • Processing the French Section's proposals for terminology entries in the Language Service's trilingual terminology database and conducting terminological research in collaboration with the English and German terminologists
  • Representing the Language Service on the EPO Machine Translation Project and other projects arising, including the planned Document Management System Project
  • Acting as the Language Service's Ergonomic WUC

Minimum qualifications:

Diploma of completed studies at university level or - in exceptional cases - equivalent professional experience. Excellent knowledge of one official language** , and ability to understand the other two.
