Internal Communication

The intern will be specifically involved in supporting the organisation of events celebrating the 40th anniversary of our organisation's "constitution". These events for which intern assistance is sought include an office-wide and external art competition; sporting events for staff and families. The intern will be "shared" 50/50 by the Internal Communication and the Amicale (the EPO's extensive, professionally operating, staff social club)

Aims of the internship

As an intern, you will

  • support the organisation of events under the supervision of an experienced colleague
  • experience day to day working life in a truly international multilingual environment
  • report on your experiences to your tutor and the HR department



You must:

  • Be a national of one of the EPO member states.
  • Provide evidence of your own health insurance.
  • Be a bachelor student of communication, ideally with a specialisation in internal communication
  • Have skills in event organisation
  • Have skills in the use of all types of communication media: intranet, magazine article writing, social media, photography, audio-visual media
  • Have good written and spoken command of English and French or German. Knowledge of Dutch would be a considerable advantage
  • Be an outgoing personality who likes to get things done, is able to keep several (parts of) projects on the go at once without losing the big picture
  • Have ability to "strike the right note" - approach people, assess their nature and communicate with them appropriately. Respect for clear hierarchical lines and tact are essential.
  • Have familiarity with the standard suite of office tools goes without saying


  • The EPO makes a contribution towards living costs. It does not cover any other expenses.
  • Two days leave per month, in addition to the Official holidays.
  • Opportunities to participate in social events such as the activities of clubs and societies.

You will be informed about the outcome of the selection procedure within 6 weeks before the start of the Internship. If you are shortlisted, you may be invited for an interview at our Office in The Hague, via Skype or telephone.

Please note that EPO operates a strict policy of pre-employment screening for new staff. Before the screening process commences, you will be asked to give your written consent. Screening is pre-requisite. Those who do not give their consent will therefore not be considered.
