Every year the European Patent Office publishes statistics on
- the number of European patent applications filed per technical domain and origin
- the number of European patents granted per technical domain and origin
- the most active patent filers
Included in the statistics for 2009 are tables and charts showing trends for the period 2000 to 2009.
These statistics are based on extracts from EPASYS, the EPO's monitoring database. They cover both Euro-direct and Euro-PCT applications entering the regional phase.
The following data is available:
- European patent applications filed in 2009 per technical field and origin
- Top 100 applicants in 2009
- European patent applications 2000 - 2009 per country of residence of the applicant
- European patents granted 2000 - 2009 per country of residence of the patentee
