Vice President Verheugen pays visit to the European Patent Office
Munich, 1 February 2006 - Günther Verheugen, Vice President and Commissioner for DG Enterprise and Industry of the European Commission, will pay an official visit to the European Patent Office tomorrow to meet with EPO President Alain Pompidou. The talks will focus on industrial and patent policy issues, such as the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union, the European Commission's Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP) and the national patent offices network of DG Enterprise. One of the objectives of the visit will also be to consider regular contacts between both partners at working level and the EPO's support and contribution to EU initiatives aiming at enhancing the competitiveness of European enterprises.
