Munich, 25.10.06 - Building a patent portfolio is for many new and innovative companies an essential for attracting investment, and can be a crucial incentive to potential buyers during the exit strategy. The commercialisation of patents and financial aspects of the management of patent portfolios are the focus of the conference "Patents: realising and securing value" which takes place on 21 November in London.
What is the venture capitalist's view of patents? What is the role of patent auctions for creating a market for technology? How to monetise IP in the context of IFRS? These are only some of the topics address in this high-level conference jointly organised by the European Patent Office (EPO), the OECD, and the UK Patent Office. It addresses the financial sector, decision makers in business and industry, policy makers in governments agencies and regulatory bodies of financial markets.
Among the high profile speakers are the President of the EPO, Professor Alain Pompidou, Mark Beatson, Director of Science and Innovation Analysis at the Office of Science and Innovation, DTI, and Nobuo Tanaka, Director for Science, Technology and Industry at the OECD. The list of expert speakers includes representatives of Conduit Ventures, Swiss Re, IP Bewertungs-AG, Ocean Tomo and Kroll.
The conference takes place at the British Library Conference Centre, St Pancras, and will be held in English. Registration opens today and will be possible until 6 November.
