In co-operation with the Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV), the public seminar "International patenting issues: patenting in China" (Stockholm, 16.10.2006) gave first-hand information on patenting in China. Experts from China provided an insight into patent granting practice at the Chinese Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), its departments, working methods and related electronic tools as well as well as an overview of patent protection and the opportunities for European applicants and the peculiarities they might encounter. One case study explained filing and enforcement strategies of a European company and how patent attorneys operate successfully in the Chinese market.
