The European Patent Organisation is an intergovernmental organisation set up pursuant to the European Patent Convention which entered into force in 1977. At present it has 38 Member States (Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom). The executive body of the EPO is the European Patent Office which is charged with the searching and examination of European patent applications and the granting of European patents. It employs approximately 6 700 staff at EPO headquarters in Munich, a branch at The Hague/Rijswijk (NL) and sub-offices in Berlin and Vienna (the number of Member States and staff members indicated may change).
A tender for the data centre to host the EPO’s Disaster Recovery Infrastructure is expected to be launched later this year.
In preparation of that tender, the EPO would like to obtain an expression of interest from qualified providers, who may want to participate to the tender, and to make available further information to such providers about this business opportunity in information sessions to be held during the first week of July (03-05.07.2018).
In this respect, the EPO would like to invite to these information sessions all providers that are capable of fulfilling the following basic requirements and may be interested in bidding:
The Data Centre facility should fulfil the EN 50600 Class 3 norm for redundancy and resilience of its power, cooling and network infrastructures (or Uptime Tier III Standard or equivalent);
The Data Centre operator must be ISO/IEC 27001 certified;
The following further Certifications/Accreditations are desirable: ISO 9001; ISO/IEC 20000-1; EN 50600; ISO 14001 ; EU CoC;
The Data Centre to be offered should be located in the vicinity of Munich
