The European Patent Organisation is an international organisation set up pursuant to the European Patent Convention which entered into force in 1977. At present it has 32 Member States (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Ellas, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom). The executive body of the EPO is the European Patent Office which is charged with the searching and examination of European patent applications and the granting of European patents. It employs approximately 6 000 staff at EPO headquarters in Munich, a branch at The Hague/Rijswijk (NL) and sub-offices in Berlin and Vienna (the number of Member States and staff members indicated may change).

Presentation course for instructors for examiner training

It is intended to conclude framework contracts with a maximum of three bidders (see below) concerning the delivery of the above mentioned courses. The EPO will choose one bidder as the main contractor and one or two bidders as an alternative contractors. It is estimated that approximately 12 to 18 courses will be organised each year. The first courses under one of the framework contracts is scheduled to take place in January/February 2008.

Place at which the contract is to be performed:
Normally courses will take place at the premises of the European Patent Offices in Munich, The Hague or Berlin.

Duration of contract or time limit for delivery or completion of services/work:
The two or three framework contracts per lot will be concluded for a period of twelve months with effect from January 2008. Each contract may be extended three times for one additional year, i.e. the total period of contract may not exceed four years.

As part of the assessment of bids, a presentation/test could be carried out with selected bidders in December on the premises of the European Patent Office in Munich or The Hague.
