Executive search for the recruitment of engineers and scientists

  1. Awarding Authority:

    The European Patent Organisation (EPO) through the European Patent Office: Headquarters, Erhardtstrasse 27, D-80469 Munich, Postal address: EPO, D-80298 Munich.
    The European Patent Organisation is an intergovernmental organisation set up pursuant to the European Patent Convention which entered into force in 1977. At present it has 32 Member States (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom). The executive body of the EPO is the European Patent Office which is charged with the searching and examination of European patent applications and the granting of European patents. It employs approximately 6700 staff at EPO headquarters in Munich, a branch at The Hague/Rijswijk (NL) and sub-offices in Berlin and Vienna (the number of Member States and staff members indicated may change).

  3. Description of the contract:

      Executive search for the recruitment of engineers and scientists

    3. Any deposits and guarantees required:

      Not applicable.

    4. Main terms concerning payment:

      No payment shall be made by the EPO other than pursuant to an invoice received. The EPO shall pay invoices within 30 (thirty) days of their receipt in the correct form. Payment shall be considered as made on time if the EPO's payment order reaches its bank within this period.

    5. Qualifications required by law:

      Not applicable.

  4. Place and period of performance:

    2. Duration of contract:

      The EPO intends to offer a one-year framework contract with possible one-year extensions up to a maximum term of five years.

    If several bidders submit a joint bid, one must be designated as prime contractor responsible for performance of all the obligations under the contract.

    Six months following the final date for receipt of bids indicated in point 6(d).

  10. Criteria for the award of contract:

    • Experience in executive search
    • Price
    • Geographical spread, the company should have offices in a wide range of European countries and have a good knowledge of local job markets.
  11. Other information:

    In view of differences in the job profiles and the search complexity, different remuneration models may be appropriate. The EPO will define in each job profile sent to the Contractor, which fee option it will apply taking into account the offers received and the special character of each search.

    Contract award is expected to take place in the first half of 2008.

    Bidders' information meetings will be held in the European Patent Office in Munich on 13th and 14th December 2007.
    All related costs will be covered by the bidder.
