The European Patent Organisation is an intergovernmental organisation set up pursuant to the European Patent Convention which entered into force in 1977. At present it has 34 Member States (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom). The executive body of the EPO is the European Patent Office which is charged with the searching and examination of European patent applications and the granting of European patents. It employs approximately 6700 staff at EPO headquarters in Munich, a branch at The Hague/Rijswijk (NL) and sub-offices in Berlin and Vienna (the number of Member States and staff members indicated may change).

The EPO will not conclude more than two separate agreements. Lot 3 and 4 shall only be awarded together with either Lot 1 or Lot 2 - they may not be awarded, at all.
Lot 5 may not be awarded, at all and is of informative value to the EPO, only. Therefore, bidders are free to submit quotations for Lot 5 and may quote only for Lot 1 or Lot 2. Bidders will raise their chances for a successful award if they also submit a quotation for Lot 3 and Lot 4.

Payment shall be effected within 30 days after delivery of each commissioning and after receipt of an invoice in the correct form.

The period for commissioning and effecting delivery of the cartridges shall commence upon signature of this Agreement by both Parties and shall have a duration of four years. The EPO commissions the purchase and delivery of a certain number of cartridges by means of a purchase order as the need arises at each site (Munich, The Hague, Vienna, Berlin) but not more often than once a month (per site).
