The European Patent Organisation is an intergovernmental organisation set up pursuant to the European Patent Convention which entered into force in 1977. The executive body of the EPO is the European Patent Office which is charged with the searching and examination of European patent applications and the granting of European patents. It employs approximately 6700 staff at EPO headquarters in Munich, a branch at The Hague/Rijswijk (NL) and sub-offices in Berlin and Vienna (the number of Member States and staff members indicated may change).

Payment shall be effected within 30 days of acceptance of rendered services and receipt of an invoice in the correct form.
The Work to be performed by the Contractor shall take place at the premises of the Contractor, in Munich, Germany. The premises of the EPO (see 1) must be reachable by the bidder within a maximum of one (1) hour.
The term of contract shall begin upon signature of the contract by both parties, but not before 1 August 2013. The duration of the contract shall be 1 year, extended automatically by a maximum of 4 further 1-year periods, unless the EPO terminates the contract in writing at least 3 months before the end of a relevant contract period. The contract shall terminate at the latest after 5 years. The EPO shall commission the work in the form of individual orders.

If several bidders submit a joint bid, one must be designated as prime contractor responsible for performance of all the obligations under the contract.

Contract award is expected to take place in the 3rd quarter of 2013.
The EPO reserves the right to invite suitable bidders to hold a presentation of their bids. Such presentations are expected to take place during week 32 or 33 and shall be held at the bidder's premises. During the presentation, bidders shall be required to carry out a complete test run of the process. Bidders shall not be reimbursed for any costs resulting from the presentation.
