Purchase and delivery of approximately 70 desk combinations for directors

  1. Awarding authority:

    European Patent Organisation (EPO), acting through the European Patent Office with its headquarters in D-80469 Munich, Erhardtstrasse 27; postal address: EPO, D-80298 Munich.
    The European Patent Organisation is an intergovernmental organisation set up pursuant to the European Patent Convention which entered into force in 1977. It now has 32 member states (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom). The executive body of the EPO is the European Patent Office, which is charged with the searching and examination of European patent applications and the granting of European patents. It employs approximately 6 700 staff at EPO headquarters in Munich, a branch at The Hague/Rijswijk (NL) and sub-offices in Berlin and Vienna (the number of member states and staff members is subject to change).

    1. Purpose:

      Purchase and delivery of approximately 70 desk combinations for directors

    2. Division into lots:

      • Lot 1: Desks and meeting tables
      • Lot 2: Mobile pedestals and sideboards
    3. Deposits and guarantees required:

      Not applicable

    4. Main terms concerning payment:

      Within 30 days of complaint-free delivery and invoicing

    5. Qualifications required by law:

      Not applicable

  4. Place and period of performance:

    If several bidders submit a joint bid, one must be designated as prime contractor responsible for performance of all obligations under the contract.

  9. Period during which the bidder is bound by his bid:

    Six months as from final date for submitting bids as per point 6(d) above.

  10. Criteria for the award of contract:

    Desk stability at all heights; overall ergonomics; compliance with all formaldehyde emissions limits and prescribed DIN standards (especially DIN report No. 147 or comparable). The order of the criteria specified is no indication of the weighting given to each.

  11. Other information:

    Contract award is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2007.
    Before awarding the contract, the EPO may request selected bidders to provide, free of charge and within fifteen working days, a sample of the furniture as offered and assemble it in the Isar building, Erhardtstrasse 27, 80469 Munich. The EPO's internal procedures may require it to retain specimen furniture for up to ten weeks. This will be at no extra cost to the EPO.
