On-call delivery, for the year 2008 of recycling copying and printing paper meeting German industrial standard DIN EN 12281 ("Paper for copying purposes") or equivalent, for use on all the EPO's copying machines, laser and inkjet printers and mini-offset machines in Munich, The Hague, Berlin and Vienna.

  1. Awarding authority:

    The European Patent Organisation is an intergovernmental organisation set up pursuant to the European Patent Convention which entered into force in 1977. At present it has 32 Member States (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom). The executive body of the EPO is the European Patent Office which is charged with the searching and examination of European patent applications and the granting of European patents. It employs approximately 6700 staff at EPO headquarters in Munich, a branch at The Hague/Rijswijk (NL) and sub-offices in Berlin and Vienna (the number of Member States and staff members indicated may change).

  3. Description of the contract:

    1. Purpose:

      On-call delivery, for the year 2008 of recycling copying and printing paper meeting German industrial standard DIN EN 12281 ("Paper for copying purposes") or equivalent, for use on all the EPO's copying machines, laser and inkjet printers and mini-offset machines in Munich, The Hague, Berlin and Vienna.

    2. Division into lots:

      Lot 1 (Munich)

      • 70 million sheets 80 g/m2 white A4 (21 x 29.7 cm, long-grain)
      • 2 million sheets 80 g/m2 white A3 (42 x 29.7 cm, short-grain)
      • 8 million sheets 80 g/m2 green (21 x 29.7 cm, long-grain)

      Lot 2 (The Hague)

      • 60 million sheets 80 g/m2 white A4 (21 x 29.7 cm, long-grain)
      • 5 million sheets 80 g/m2 green (21 x 29.7 cm, long-grain)

      Lot 3 (Berlin)

      • 5 million sheets 80 g/m2 white A4 (21 x 29.7 cm, long-grain)

      Lot 4 (Vienna)

      • 2 million sheets 80 g/m2 white A4 (21 x 29.7 cm, long-grain)

      The lots may be awarded singly or in combination.
      The above quantities are subject to a ±20% margin.

    3. Any deposits and guarantees required:

    4. Main terms concerning payment:

      Within 30 days following delivery and receipt of invoice in the correct form for each consignment ordered.

    5. Qualifications required by law:

  4. Place and period of performance:

      office in Vienna

    2. Period:

      Contract to start on 1.1.2008 and run until 31.12.2008, with possibility of extension to 31.12.2009.

      Bids must be submitted in writing by mail or courier. Bids submitted by fax or e-mail will be excluded.

    5. Language or languages in which requests for clarification and bids must be drawn up:

      English, French or German.

  7. Legal form of the grouping in the event of a joint bid:

    If several bidders submit a joint bid, one must be nominated as prime contractor responsible for performance of all obligations under the contract.

  8. Information and evidence concerning the bidder's financial and economic standing and technical and professional competence:

  9. Period during which the bidder is bound by his bid:

    Six months following the final date for receipt of bids indicated in point 6(c).

  10. Criteria for the award of contract:

    Successful test, price.

    The Procurement Documents are available in English, French and German.
    In accordance with the Procurement Documents, the EPO has the right to test the paper after the bid is submitted.
    Contract award is expected to take place in December 2007.
