International publication of the application and the ISR

The international publication of the international application by the IB takes place promptly after expiry of 18 months from the priority date. If the ISR is available at that time it will be published together with the application. If not, the ISR is published separately from the international application on receipt by the IB. As from 1 July 2012, third parties may file with the IB, between the date of international publication and 28 months from the priority date of the international application, observations referring to prior art relevant to the novelty and/or inventive step of the invention claimed in the international application.
