The EPO website is divided into three main areas - or "channels" - based on the EPO's target audiences.
The Patents area contains tools and services directed at professionals: applicants, potential applicants, lawyers, patent information users and patent office staff. It contains the legal texts, a guide to the grant procedure, patent information services, the searchable database of board of appeal decisions and details about training organised by the EPO.
The second section is a classic About us area with information about the Organisation, the Office, the boards of appeal and the European Patent Network. It also announces EPO events, job opportunities and tender notices and is home to the press and publications sections.
The Topics area is targeted at a wider audience and contains news and articles about topical issues, such as computer-implemented inventions. It looks at the past and future of the patent systems. This area also includes a calendar of patent-related events in Europe and an IP webguide of useful links.
