The two-month period of grace provided for by Rule 85b EPC for filing the request for examination is calculated in accordance with Rule 83(2) and (4). It starts to run on the day following the expiry of the earlier time limit but expires two months after the expiry of the normal time limit, on the day which has the same number as the day on which the first time limit expired.
