Training resources for Paper A of the European qualifying examination
Paper A assesses candidates' ability to draft claims and the introductory part of a European patent application. The paper, which lasts for 3½ hours, is held on the morning of day 2 of exam week.
There are dedicated areas on the EQE forum for Paper A Chemistry and Paper A Electricity/Mechanics (E/M). Candidates can post questions and contribute to discussions on Paper A in general and on past papers. A tutor is available to answer questions and to give advice.
The EQE-Wiki has articles on how to tackle Paper A Chemistry and how to tackle Paper A E/M. There are several commented answer papers for Paper A Chemistry 2009. These have been reviewed by a tutor and comments have been added to explain where candidates made errors and how those errors might have been avoided.
For Paper A E/M the EQE-Wiki also has a dedicated tutorial for the 2009 paper. Many of the principles apply to the paper in general.
More information on how to prepare for the EQE can be found in the EQE study guide.
