Patent Information Conference 2010

Lausanne, Switzerland, 19-21 October 2010

EPIC2010 Poster (JPG)For patent searchers and information specialists the EPO Patent Information Conference 2010 in Lausanne was a must. Since its inception in 1991, this annual event has become a major feature of the patent information calendar. The 2010 conference was organised in co-operation with the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI). 

The programme addressed some of the most important developments in the European patent system of relevance to patent searchers, including:

  • machine translation
  • changes in classification at worldwide level
  • efforts to achieve a global common documentation resource for patent searching
  • how patent information can contribute to sustainabe IP management
  • and, for this year only, an extra session (on 18 October) entitled "Focus on Asia"

The event also offered detailed technical discussions in small groups, specialised training courses and Europe's leading patent information exhibition.

The EPO Patent Information Conference is an unrivalled opportunity within Europe to meet all the major players in patent information's commercial sector and the staff of various patent offices.

A list of requests for improvements (PDF, 65 KB) to European patent information expressed by conference delegates in 2010 is now available. A report describing progress on fulfilling these wishes will appear in advance of the EPO Patent Information Conference 2011."
