Once a year, the EPO organises the "Boards of appeal and key decisions" conference to deliver unique insight into its case law practice. This year's conference will take place at the end of October.
This event offers an extraordinary opportunity to meet chairmen and legally and technically qualified members of the boards of appeal, as well as the Chairman of the Enlarged Board of Appeal. Talks will cover recent key decisions of the boards of appeal, the rules of procedure and late filings. The technical fields addressed will be the perennial favourites biotechnology and computer-implemented inventions. And for the first time ever, a mock trial will be held to convey the subtleties of a hearing.
The programme will include lectures by guest speakers such as Geertrui Van Overwalle from KU Leuven and Klaus Grabinski from the German Federal Court of Justice (Bundesgerichtshof) and leaves plenty of room for discussion.
This event is primarily directed to attorneys, judges and public prosecutors with a minimum of 4 years' experience in the field of patents.
