Extended Online Services User Day in Madrid

The last EPO Online Services User Day of 2011 will be held in Madrid on 22 and 23 November.

Like the London and Munich events of 2009 and 2010 respectively, the user day in Madrid will have an extended one-and-a-half-day format and is aimed primarily at patent attorneys, support staff and staff responsible for the technical implementation of Online Filing.

As on previous user days, the programme will include hands-on training workshops for Online Filing and Online Fee Payment to give participants a chance to try out the software for themselves.

In response to popular demand, a new module has been added to the programme to give more experienced Online Filing users the opportunity to practise the knowledge and skills acquired in the morning session on the basis of practical examples.

The programme will also feature three Online Filing workshops specially for technical support staff, as well as modules on PatXML and BiSSAP (Biological Sequence Submission Application for Patents).

The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) will offer workshops on online filing, online fee payment and a number of new online services available on its website. In addition, demonstrations of their online services will be given at a dedicated stand.

Also on the programme are a number of seminars on the patent granting procedure. Topics covered include:

  • The European patent grant procedure at a glance
  • Recent changes to the European patent grant procedure combined with examples of best practice
  • Amended Rule 71 and new Rule 71a EPC applicable from 1 April 2012
  • Opposition and the limitation/revocation procedure before the EPO

We recommend that you register as soon as possible, as places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The deadline for registration has been extended till 14 November 2011.

This will be the last EPO Online Services event in this format, so don't miss out.

We look forward to seeing you in Madrid!
