The EPO is pleased to announce the launch of PATSTAT Online, a new, web-based interface that enables you to run queries in PATSTAT, the EPO's statistical database for patents, and to perform statistical analyses.
Aimed at patent information specialists, companies, patent attorneys and academics, PATSTAT Online can create visualisations of your results and lets you download result sets for offline use. Unlike the raw data product, PATSTAT Online allows you to access the PATSTAT databases without installing them locally, opening up the EPO's patent statistics and analysis tools to new user groups for the first time.
EPO President Benoît Battistelli highlighted the important role that good IP information - and statistical analyses in particular - can play in driving innovation and the economy.
"Traditionally, patent information was a source of technical information. Now, with the EPO's modern patent tools such as PATSTAT Online, users can use this information to develop a comprehensive and detailed picture of patent activity. For policy-makers IP data reveals how our patent systems are performing. Patent data also offers the ability to study regional strengths and weaknesses and to obtain a picture of global developments in innovation," he said.
You can subscribe to PATSTAT's worldwide bibliographical patent data, covering nearly 100 million patent documents from more than 90 authorities worldwide. Optionally, you can also include worldwide legal status patent data and online access to European Patent Register data will be available soon.
