Natural or legal persons having either their residence or their principal place of business in a contracting state can undertake all procedural steps before the EPO on their own and are not obliged to be represented. Other applicants do need to be represented by a professional representative (Article 134(1) EPC) or a legal practitioner (Article 134(8) EPC), except when filing an application or paying fees.
Even if a professional representative is not required, there may be good reason to consult a European patent attorney. The EPO maintains a database of professional representatives which it regularly updates..
Please enter your search term in the appropriate field and submit the query by clicking the "Search" button. You need to fill in at least the country or name field.
This will generate a list of professional representatives who match your query. By clicking on the links in the list, you can see a professional representative's full name and address, together with the e-mail address and the website URL if provided. In addition you can click on the city or the country of a given professional representative in order to receive a list of all professional representatives at the respective location.
