Notice from the European Patent Office dated 30 January 2007 concerning the decision to cease to accept European and international patent applications produced with version 2.10 or any earlier version of the epoline® Online Filing software

The European Patent Office has been providing patent applicants and patent attorneys with version 3.20 of the epoline® Online Filing software free of charge since December 2006.

In view of the considerable added functionality and improvements provided by the EPO with this version of the Online Filing software, it will cease to accept applications produced with version 2.10 or any earlier version with effect from 1 November 2007. In practice this means that the Office's receiving server will reject European and international patent applications produced with the earlier versions in question. This change also affects any applications to be routed through the central industrial property office or any other responsible authority in a contracting state. The EPO therefore recommends that all users upgrade to version 3.20 in good time.

Users can download version 3.20 of the Online Filing software free of charge from the epoline® website at www.epoline.org, "Download centre" - "Software".

For more information on online filing, please see "Products and services" - "Online Filing", also at www.epoline.org.
