Rule 41(2)(b)The title should clearly and concisely state the technical designation of the invention and should exclude all fancy names. While any obvious failures to meet these requirements are likely to be noted during the formalities examination, the examiner should review the title in the light of his reading of the description and claims and any amendments thereto, to make sure that the title, as well as being concise, gives a clear and adequate indication of the subject of the invention. Thus, if amendments are made which change the categories of claims, the examiner should check whether a corresponding amendment is needed in the title.
