Singapore: change of patent law to enter into force

According to the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), the legislative amendments to the patent system will become effective on 14 February 2014. The former "self-assessment regime" will be replaced by a "positive grant system". Under the new system, IPOS will only grant patents for those applications which receive a fully positive examination report. Furthermore, a review procedure will be available for applicants who have received a negative examination report. More information will soon be released on the IPOS website.
