Korea: "You are the examiner" - Community patent review system launched

Following a trial period starting in 2010, the Korean Patent Office (KIPO) officially launched the Community Patent review (CPR) system in February 2012. Under this system, experts from the public are invited to review published patent applications which are currently under examination and to help KIPO's examiners finding relevant prior art in this respective technical field. Every three months, KIPO will select about  50 published applications to be reviewed by the public, mainly from technical fields with a high proportion of non-patent literature. Reviewers include university professors, professional researchers and technicians with a hands-on background in intellectual property rights.
