The "Intellectual Property Office" (IPOS) invites the public to provide feedback on planned changes to the patent system in Singapore. IPOS is considering to abolish its current "self-assessment regime" and thus bring the system further in line with international patent systems. Further amendments concern the regulations for designs and trade marks.
Detailed explanations of the background and the proposed legislative changes can be found in the "Public Consultation" section on the IPOS website. Comments will be possible until 18 April 2012.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Law has released draft legislation amendments and a consultation paper, which is open for public comment until 12 April 2012. This paper proposes changes with respect to the patent agent sector in Singapore, in order to develop the local patent agent profession and attract international patent agencies.
