Singapore: amendments to patent act have passed the parliament

As anounced in previous updates, amendments to the patent system, including the abolition of the existing "self-assessment" regime, are currently under way in Singapore. After a series of public consultations which started in August 2009, the Ministry of Law and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) proposed a number of amendments in May 2012.

The Singapore parliament passed these legislative amendments on 10 July 2012. The related legislation necessary to implement the changes will be released later in the year. For further information, please refer to this press release on the IPOS website.
