The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) has prepared a list of about 40 goods and services that can be commonly acceptable by trademark examiners of major IP offices worldwide. This list covers items such as e.g. Taekwondo suits, distilled spirits (Soju) or cubed radish Kimchi (Kkakdugi). The list is part of the common identification project (ID) initiated by the "Trademark Five", a consultative body of the five advanced trademark offices of Korea, the United States, Japan, China, and Europe (OHIM). The project's aim is to prevent trade mark examiners of the five participating offices from refusing the registration of trademarks due to a lack of information about the traditional goods and services.
