The Indian Patent Office has released draft "Guidelines for Examination of Computer Related Inventions (CRI)". According to the introduction, the guidelines incorporate various provisions for the patentability of computer related inventions and aim at fostering uniformity and consistency in the examination of patent applications in this technological field. The guidelines discuss the procedures to be adopted by examiners when examining such applications and contain typical examples of descriptions, claims and related issues.
According to a public notice released on 28 June 2013, the public may submit comments and suggestions by 19 July 2013. Further information and a draft version of the guidelines can be found on the Indian Patent Office's website.
