Malaysia: amendments to industrial design legislation have entered into force

According to an official notice, an amended act and corresponding regulations for industrial designs came into force in Malaysia on 1 July 2013. Among other changes, the term of industrial designs has been extended from 15 to 25 years. Furthermore, absolute novelty has been introduced, meaning that the novelty requirement now also includes public disclosure outside of Malaysia before the priority date.
