Chinese Taipei/Japan: agreement on priority document exchange signed

After the launch of the PPH pilot programme on 1 May 2012, Chinese Taipei and Japan will now officially start a mutual Electronic Priority Document Exchange (PDX) programme in 2013. On 5 November 2013, five agreements on co-operation in areas like patent protection and e-commerce were signed by the heads of the Association of East Asian Relations and the Interchange Association of Japan in Taipei.

According to the official statistics, Japan is the top filing country at the Taiwan Patent Office (TIPO) with 13 978 applications in 2012. The electronic exchange of priority documents will facilitate the procedures and save costs for applicants on both sides. More information can be found in this news item on TIPO's website (Chinese only).
