The Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion) has published an official notification on the planned amendment to the Patents Rules of 2003. Among other changes, the Indian Patent Office in Delhi is to become the Indian International Searching Authority (ISA) and Indian International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA) for international applications under the PCT. There will also be new rules defining procedures, time limits and fees for international search and international preliminary examination.

The official notification by the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry on the "Draft Patents (Amendment) Rules, 2010" is available in the news section of the Indian Patent Office's website. The draft rules can be downloaded from the "patents" section.
