Korea: KIPO establishes expert team for ISA searches

In order to further improve its position as an International Searching Authority (ISA) for PCT applications, the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) founded an "international search team" within the "Chemistry and Biotechnology Examination Bureau".

Usually KIPO's examiners are dealing with both examinations of national applications and prior art searches of international applications. However, the newly founded "international search team" will focus only on PCT applications. In this way, KIPO aims at a further improvement of international prior art searches.  The team will consist of 27 experts and cover four different fields such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, advanced materials  and medical electronic equipment.
