Korea: KIPO's annual report 2010 now available

The Korean Patent Office (KIPO) just published its annual report for the fiscal year 2010. As in the previous years, the report offers a comprehensive overview about new developments, facts and trends related to the Korean IP system. Some of the most notable statistical data include:

• number of patent applications in 2010: 170 101 (2009: 163 523) 
• number of utility model applications: 13 661 (2009: 17,114)
• number of patent registrations: 68 843 (2009: 56 732)
• average first action pendency period for patents and utility models: 18.5 months (2009: 15.4 months, 2008: 12.1 months)
• average total pendency period for patents and utility models: 24.6 months (2009: 22.2 months, 2008: 17.4 months)
