SIPO launches new patent information platform

Offering searches in Chinese and non-Chinese documents, the Chinese Patent Office's (SIPO) "Patent Search and Service System" (PSS) went online for public testing in April 2011. It includes a number of advanced search and retrieval possibilities, such as citation and family searches, cross-lingual retrieval, legal status information, full text data and machine translation. Most functions are free of charge, but registration is necessary for some advanced features. Chinese data on patents, utility models and designs is available from 1985 onwards and currently updated once a month.

For the time being, the service is only available in Chinese, and special settings may be required to use it on Western computers. For more information, contact the EPO's Asian patent information services at asiainfo@epo.org.
