The Malaysian Patent Office (MyIPO) published a detailed statistical report on IP trends in Malaysia. The booklet offers a comprehensive overview about filing trends for all types of industrial property in Malaysia. Some of the most notable statistical results for 2010 include:

• the growth rate for all types of industrial property applications was 10%
• 20% of patent applications were filed by domestic applicants, 80% by foreign applicants
• PCT filings saw a 49% increase compared to 2009
• the most active technical sector by IPC was section C (chemistry & metallurgy)
