Chinese Taipei: TIPO amends patent fee regulations and Accelerated Examination Program

The Taiwan Patent Office (TIPO) published amendments to its "Regulations of patent fees" and "Accelerated Examination Program" (AEP) on 1 July 2011. Patent applicants with economic difficulties, schools, SMEs and others meeting certain criteria are now eligible for a fee reduction.

From now on, all patent applications must be laid open at the time of requesting accelerated examination. Furthermore, there is a filing fee of 4000 NTD per application for invention patents which undergo accelerated examination.
