At the occasion of WIPO's General Assembly in Geneva on 28 September 2011, the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing collaboration between IPOS and the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center (WIPO Center). Under the MoU, IPOS and WIPO set up a joint dispute resolution procedure to facilitate the mediation of intellectual property disputes filed with IPOS. The new mediation procedure is expected to become available at IPOS in the first quarter of 2012 and will be especially beneficial to parties in cross-border disputes and for global settlements. IPOS sees this initiative as a positive step towards establishing Singapore as an intellectual property services hub for the region.
A press release with further details on IPOS' collaboration with WIPO is available on the IPOS website.
