At the sidelines of WIPO's 49th General Assembly in Geneva, the heads of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL) signed a bilateral agreement to start co-operation in promoting innovation, technology transfer and economic growth. Amongst others, the agreement foresees activities in patent information, dissemination of knowledge and technology transfer between universities and government research centres from both countries. Next to its involvement in intellectual property matters in the ASEAN region, IPOPHIL also pursues bilateral collaborations with the EPO and WIPO. Further details on the bilateral agreement with the USPTO are available on the IPOPHIL website.
