Vietnam: bilateral agreements with USPTO and JPO

On the sidelines of WIPO's General Assembly in Geneva from 26 September to 5 October 2011, the delegation from Vietnam signed a bilateral agreement with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This is the first agreement of this type and it is expected to mark the beginning of intensified co-operation between the two countries in the field of intellectual property. Vietnam also held talks with representatives of the Japan Patent Office (JPO) with a view to signing a comprehensive co-operation agreement which will further develop the strategic partnership between the two countries and secure the support of the JPO for intellectual property related projects in Vietnam.
