China: Draft version of trade mark law published for comments

The Chinese State Council's Legislative Affairs Office released a draft version of the third amendment to the trade mark law for public comment on 2 September 2011. The law, in force since 1982, was revised in 1993 and 2001. Planned amendments include extending trade mark protection to single colour marks and sounds, introducing electronic filing, strengthening protection for foreign and famous brands and changes to the opposition procedure. The public may still submit  comments until 8 October 2011.
