Philippines: first anti-counterfeiting and piracy summit

From 24 to 28 October 2011, the Philippines Patent Office (IPOPHIL), together with WIPO and other international organisations, held a five-day summit on counterfeiting and piracy. The event was the first of its kind in the Philippines and addressed the risks that counterfeiting and piracy pose to the Philippines economy. Attended by representatives of relevant government agencies, local government units, business groups and other IP stakeholders, the summit aimed at raising public awareness and soliciting co-operation from public and private stakeholders to combat counterfeiting and piracy.
